A church has stood on the site of St Lawrence, Warkworth for almost thirteen centuries. In AD 737 the first historical record reports that the King of Northumbria gave Wercewode, with the church of St Lawrence, to the Abbott and monks of Holy Island. The present church was built between 1132 and 1140. Over the centuries the church has witnessed many events of historical and religious significance. More details can be found on the church website.

Today St Lawrence Church serves the Anglican Parish of Warkworth.
