St James the Great

St James's is a friendly Anglican church in Gretton, Northamptonshire, sharing clergy and church community events with St John's, Corby.  Our history as the parish's church goes back over 900 years. Services today are traditional and relaxed in the welcoming and spiritual atmosphere of such an ancient sacred building.  Often, we are very fortunate in having a super church organist and choir to lead the congregation in singing and free lovely drinks and cakes to share together afterwards. Some services are accompanied by our church tower bells ringing and our mini-choir club children joining in the singing.

Our regular services are:

   SUNDAY SERVICES

  • Morning Holy Communion every Sunday of the month at 9am
         Complimentary refreshments afterwards
  • Evensong third Sunday of the month at 6pm

   FRIDAY MORNING PRAYERS

  • first Friday of the month at 10.15am
Followed by Forget-Me-Not Cafe for the community at 11am

   WEDNESDAY MORNING SERVICE

  • Holy Communion at 10am
          Complimentary refreshments afterwards

Everyone is very warmly welcome at our services and events and also to visit the beautiful church building and churchyard just to look around, explore and reflect. The church and churchyard are open everyday from 8am, but locked from 5pm (4pm in winter) except for services and special events. We have regular community cafe opportunities for anyone to come along to to relax, catch up and meet clergy and new folk over a cuppa and delicious homemade fayre available from our little church servery.
