Choir
The church benefits from very good acoustics, a fine two-manual pipe organ and a good upright piano. It has a choir which rehearses every week and sings anthems regularly.
The choir provides musical support for the worship at most of the Sunday church services. It sings a wide range of music from the Middle Ages to the present day, and the repertoire is constantly expanding. An anthem is normally sung for morning services, and services with a higher musical content, such as choral evensong, take place periodically. Annual highlights include the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols just before Christmas and a “Journey through Lent” Passiontide service shortly before Easter.
The choir is available to sing for weddings and funerals at the church, leading the hymn singing and providing choral music as required.
New choir members are always welcome. If you enjoy singing (no music reading skills needed) and can spend an hour on Tuesday evenings as well as singing for most Sunday services (normally morning only), we would love to hear from you. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact Caroline Allen on 02392 632545.
