Welcome to St James' Church, Dalby
Situated on the scenic west coast overlooking the sea, this unique historic church, much admired by Sir John Betjeman, was commissioned by Bishop Ward in 1839 as a church and a school. Designed by John Welch, architect for the Tower of Refuge and King William's College, it is one of the smallest churches on the Isle of Man. Although they are no longer in use as a school, the two adjoining rooms provide a vital role as a centre of village life. Our basement project will create an additional space as well as a village shop.

We love having visitors join us in worship.
Worship at Dalby is intimate and informal. We seek to reflect in worship, the silence and beauty of our environment, our traditions, our Celtic heritage, and our love of God and one another. Sunday services are held every week at 6:30pm. Our Christian Meditation Group welcomes anyone seeking to explore a deeper stillness before God. Using the Benedictine practice developed by the World Community for Christian Meditation, we meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. We also run a monthly Messy Church each month for families. For up-to-date information about these and any other of our events, please see our website, or telephone the contact number shown.

Our Church and the Community
We’ve an active church and community group working to restore the building and connect to community through monthly events, a ministry of 'cakes and cooking', community initiatives like Sunday Papers and the village fruit bushes. As a Fairtrade church we’re seeking to serve our wider community and are committed to fundraising for Manx charities on Island and overseas. Our exciting basement project is underway, transforming what was originally the schoolmaster's accommodation into a multi-purpose community venue, The Dalby Hub. This will include a shop, social room and a permanent exhibition about the local area.
