At present all services are suspended as per guidance from the Church of England in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
St Peter's is of the Anglo-Catholic tradition and we pride ourselves on our family, welcome and support.
Christians have worshipped on this site since 1872, and we invite you to share in fellowship and prayer with us.
Very much at the heart of the community, the church was built as a result of penny contributions from the local mining families. This remains our mission for its past, its present and its future.
Not just here for baptisms (christenings), weddings and funerals, St Peter's also responds to what local society asks and needs. As part of this outreach, many local groups use the church facilities, including dance groups, holiday community lunches. We provide Christmas hampers to local families, who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford a Christmas dinner. In 2019 we were able to provide these for 60 families.
