St Peter's is of the Anglo-Catholic tradition and is imbued with a sense of family, welcome and support.
Christians have worshipped on this site since 1872, and we invite you to share in fellowship and prayer with us.
Very much at the heart of the community, the church was built as a result of penny contributions from the local mining fraternity. That is the context for its past, its present and its future.
Not just here for baptisms (christenings), weddings and funerals, St Peter's also responds to what local society asks and needs. As part of this outreach, many local groups use the church facilities, including the Charity ACTS 435 (through which the parish has distributed over £50,000 to needy families), a new Parent & Toddler initiative, as well as dance groups.
Mass is celebrated daily.
