About Us

Welcome to our webpage. The church of St. Mary Magdalene has been at the centre of our village and community since the foundation stone was laid in 1933 and has always played a part in the life of those who live in Lundwood and Barnsley.

We are a Church of England parish in the Deanery of Barnsley and the Diocese of Leeds (Anglican) and play a central role in the life of our town, Deanery and Diocese.

We welcome those who would like to know more about Christ in their lives, those exploring questions about faith and those who simply want a quiet space to pray or think. Our church is open a different times during the week and you can find information about opening times on our weekly news letter. We have very strong links with our local school Outwood Primary Academy Littleworth Grange and our parish priest, Father Blair Radford is a school governor at the school.

We are open and tradition worshiping community, looking to bring God and our Lord to the lives of those who seek Him.

Our worship is what you would expect of a Church of England parish, with prayer and Holy Communion at its heart. We socialise together and are seeking to expand our reach into the community.

Our parish priest, Father Blair, was a soldier before training to be a priest. Fr. Blair looks after us and another church in Barnsley, St. Peter and St. John the Baptist. Fr. Blair is supported by the Church Wardens, Mick and Ann with the parish parochial council.

We welcome all visitors and those looking to find our more about marriage, baptisms or funerals in the parish. Feel free to get in touch with Father Blair if you have any questions.
