At a service held at St Mary's Church on the 12th July, we were delighted to welcome our new curate Megan Thornton. Megan will serve a three to four year term with us and is set to be ordained as a priest next year. Originally from Yeadon, she previously worked with children with life limiting conditions. Megan is following her calling to become a priest and is looking forward to working, alongside our vicar Hannah, across our three churches. Megan and her husband Matthew have now taken up residency at the vicarage at Netherton and we are looking forward to getting to know them in the coming months.
Brian has been a Licensed Lay Minister (LLM) at St Mary's for 14 years but has decided it's the right time to step back from this ministry. We said thank you to him for all he has given over the years in this role (and thank you to his wife Ann too for her support). Fortunately we're not losing Brian: he remains a committed member of our congregation, heads up our Reweave group and is involved in many areas of our church. So thank you Brian: for all your LLM ministry, and for all you continue to do at St Mary's.St Mary's are committed to involving congregation members - new and old - in all aspects of our church life and we're always glad to hear from anyone who would like to join in and share their skills with us to benefit our church and community. Thank you everyone!
