St Mary the Virgin Church marked Harvest in early September, ahead of our Rogation service on October 1st when some of us walked the 7.5 miles of the bounds of our beautiful parish. More recently we were delighted to help the pupils of Sherfield School celebrate Harvest. The children enjoyed learning about how harvesting of the wheat used to take place 500 years ago and singing about fluffy cauliflowers and doing the Harvest Samba! Tins of food brought by the children are to be given to the local Food Bank.St Mary’s Church is thrilled at the recent appointment of Mrs Moir as school head teacher and very much looks forward to a (rather belated) welcome to her as part of our Christingle and Toy service at 10.00 on December 3rd
Monday the 27th June. Last night Rev Steve was instituted as the new Rector of Tadley with Pamber Heath and Silchester and Rev Karen West was licensed as our new Associate Minister and resident vicar for Silchester.Thank you so much to everyone who came to celebrate. Seeing the church packed with over 200 people including 30 clergy from all over the diocese, all praising God made it very special. This new team will be joined on Sunday by Rev Chris Knight who will be ordained at Winchester Cathedral this weekend. We believe that God has brought this team together and something special is happening. We are excited for this next season in the life of our community. When the Holy Spirit moves lives get changed and people get loved.
