Mission links

Jesus commissioned his followers to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28: 18b-19a). As part of our response to this commission, St Catherine's supports various overseas and local outreach organisations. We long to see people from all nations having the opportunity to hear and respond to the Good News of the Gospel, free from poverty, persecution, discrimination, effects of war and unjust governmental regimes.

Our mission links include:

Trinity Winchester

Trinity Winchester provides vital practical and emotional support to over 600 people each year who are experiencing the effects of homelessness or vulnerability. For more information, visit their website or Facebook page.

Winchester Basics Bank

Winchester Basics Bank is a Christian charity supported by local churches, caring organisations and Winchester City Council. They provide individuals and families in need with emergency food parcels of enough tinned and dried food for 7 days plus fresh fruit and vegetables when available, and good quality second hand clothes. For more information, visit their website or Facebook page.

Winchester Beacon

Winchester Beacon (formerly Winchester Churches Nightshelter) has provided a safe and caring temporary home to those experiencing homelessness since 1988. As well as accessing secure and comfortable accommodation and nutritious food, residents also benefit from a wide-ranging programme of practical and emotional support to help them break the cycle of homelessness and rebuild their lives. For more information, visit their website or Facebook page.

Karis Kids

Karis Kids is an initiative, founded in January 2007, between the Church of Uganda and a group of UK churches with the vision of bringing family and a future to vulnerable children and those orphaned by AIDS. Our benefice is linked with St Paul's, Okuvu, in the slums of Kampala, and individuals and families within the benefice support a total of 9 families, as well as paying occasional visits to take part in the biennial Summer Camp and other celebrations. For more information, visit the Karis Kids website or Facebook page, or email [email protected].

OMF Japan

OMF International seeks to bring the gospel to all the peoples of East Asia. Our particular link is with Chris and Kesia Pain and their family in Japan, where nearly 500 towns or villages don’t have a church, and only about 0.45% of the people in areas where OMF works are Christians. For more information visit OMF Japan's website.

MAF

For 75 years, MAF has been flying light aircraft over jungles, mountains, swamps and deserts, enabling more than 2,000 aid, development and mission organisations to bring medical care, emergency relief, long-term development and Christian hope to thousands of communities. Our link is with Ben and Esther Brown who have recently travelled to Arnhem Land, Northern Australia, with their two young boys. Ben will be the Deputy Country Director in the programme helping to coordinate the flights that serve indigenous communities giving access to health care, schooling and building materials.  More information can be found on the MAF website.
