Glastonbury Pilgrimage, 2018

Arriving in good time for the concelebrated mass in the Abbey nave, on a blisteringly hot summer's day, we set up our seats in the shade of the north side. From here we had a good view of the liturgy. The main celebrant was Bishop Roger Jupp (who presided at our May Festival at St Ambrose last year) and the preacher was Father Damian Feeney, Catholic Missioner in the Diocese of Lichfield. After Mass we enjoyed our picnic lunches in the cool under the trees with a little free time (in which some toured the monastic ruins and environs) before robing and assembling for the Procession of Witness from St John's Church, down the High Street into Magdalen Street and back to the Abbey for Benediction. Some of the parched pilgrims slaked their thirst at the George & Pilgrim Inn before we took to the coaches for the return journey.
