St Edburga

Welcome to the St Edburga's Leigh page.  St Edburga's with St John the Baptist's, Bransford serves the parish of Leigh and Bransford within the Worcestershire West Rural Team.  Our vicar is the Reverend Anne Potter and her details can be found below.

The Norman church of St Edburga at Leigh was built by Benedictine monks from Pershore Abbey in 1100, having been granted the land by King Edgar in 972 AD, and they dedicated the church to St Edburga - one of the patron saints of Pershore Abbey. Edburga, the grand-daughter of Alfred the Great, avowed a life of prayer and sanctity, rejecting the jewels and adornments of a Saxon princess. Her Feast day is celebrated on June 15th.

The church is open daily between 10am and 6pm (from the 28th October over the winter St Edburga will close at 4pm)

Copies of the latest pew sheet can be found on our news and notices page.

The parish of Leigh and Bransford is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Worcester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
