Church of England Diocese of Worcester Leigh and Bransford

St Edburga

Welcome to the St Edburga's Leigh page.  St Edburga's with St John the Baptist's, Bransford serves the parish of Leigh and Bransford within the Worcestershire West Rural Team.  Our vicar is the Reverend Anne Potter and her details can be found below.

The Norman church of St Edburga at Leigh was built by Benedictine monks from Pershore Abbey in 1100, having been granted the land by King Edgar in 972 AD, and they dedicated the church to St Edburga - one of the patron saints of Pershore Abbey. Edburga, the grand-daughter of Alfred the Great, avowed a life of prayer and sanctity, rejecting the jewels and adornments of a Saxon princess. Her Feast day is celebrated on June 15th.

After this extended period of not being able to visit and worship in our churches around WWRT, we are pleased to be able to confirm that in line with the Government's recent announcement and after following the Archbishops' guidance to ensure the health and safety of congregations that St Egburga's will be open for private prayer commencing on the 28th June. The church will be open on Sundays and Wednesdays between 10am and 4pm.

Copies of the latest pew sheet can be found on our news and notices page.

Previous recorded services can be found on our YouTube channel WWRT LIve Stream at
