Whether you are wondering about getting married at one of the churches in the Elmley Parish or need your Wedding Banns read - we are here to help.
The Church of England provides a good link to ‘all you need to help you plan a personal, meaningful, spiritual and beautiful church wedding‘ on their weddings web site:
https://www.churchofengland.org/life-events/your-church-wedding
To get married at St Mary's in Elmley Castle, St Michael's in Bricklehampton, St Michael's in Great Comberton or St Peter's in Little Comberton you will need to have a qualifying connection to the church.
These are that you:- have at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months, or
- were baptised (christened) in the parish concerned, or
- are confirmed and the confirmation was entered in the register of confirmations for a church or chapel in the parish (this will usually be the case if you were prepared for confirmation in the parish), or
- have at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months
or
That one of you parents, at any time after they were born:
- have lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months, or
- have regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months
or
That one of your parents or grandparents:
- were married in the parish
If you live within the parish then you are immediately connected to the church.
Don't worry if you don't meet any of the qualifying connections, as you can create a connection by attending six services at your chosen church in the run up to the time that you wish to marry, leaving enough time for your Banns to be read three times in the three months before you get married. An application form for you to complete and return to Alison Khan at [email protected] is below.
If you live in the parish but are getting married in another parish then you will need to have your Banns read in both parishes. An application form to complete is below and should be returned to [email protected]
We will then get in touch to explain more about the process of getting married in one of the churches in the Bredon Hill Group.
