We welcome Revd Alma Organ to Peopleton this
morning to lead the Service of Holy Communion.
Alma and Robin very much enjoy coming to our
Bowland Benefice…….and a little bird tells me Alma
has just celebrated a significant birthday!

Diary Date

Ascension Day – Thursday 29 May
The congregation of the Bowland Benefice has once
again been invited to join Revd Canon Sarah
Dangerfield and the Five Alive Parish congregation in a
Communion Service for Ascension Day in Fladbury

Church at 7.00pm.

It is always a good opportunity to meet up with
friends from across the Deanery.

A big ‘Thank you’ to everyone involved in organising
the wonderful events of last week to commemorate
VE Day and also to all those who took part. The bells
rang out in Peopleton and White Ladies Aston – there
was a barbeque, street party and simple supper to
enjoy – music and camaraderie abounded.
Let us keep in our thoughts and prayers those areas of
our world where there is bloodshed, destruction and
hatred. Indescribable and indiscriminate killing and
inhumanity which is beyond understanding. We pray
for the people of Gaza, Ukraine, Myanmar, Pakistan,
Syria, the Congo, Sudan…….the list is endless.

Prayers for peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy. Amen.

(St Francis)

O God, compassionate and merciful, where your
children tear each other apart you are also torn.
Full of confusion, longing for peace we bring you

our violent world,

where the poorest pay the cost of powerful hatreds.

In this time of need,
open our hearts and minds to your will,
and show us how to pray. Amen.
(Janet Morley)
Almighty Father,
whose will is to restore all things
in your beloved Son the King of all;
govern the hearts and minds of those in authority
and bring the families of the nations,
divided and torn apart by the ravages of sin,
to be subject to his just and gentle rule,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(Common Worship)
Dear Lord,

grant us to seek the ways of talking and meeting
instead if the ways of guns and war
and that whatever our colour or creed
we may be as one. Amen.
(Ken Poole)
Christian Aid Week –

Christian Aid works in war zones and conflict-affected
areas. They focus on both immediate humanitarian
aid and longer-term peace building efforts, working
with local partners to address the needs of the most

vulnerable populations.

If you haven’t got a little red envelope It is very easy
to give on-line and support the urgently needed work.
