A said service of Communion in the Lady Chapel with a short homily.
Our craft and chat group meet weekly on a Thursday from 1.30. Bring your own knitting, crochet, stitching, modelling, anything you want and sit with company and a cuppa. We also have adult colouring available and a listening ear. We would love to see you there.
Come and join us to carve your pumpkins into lanterns to celebrate All Saints Day! Bring a pumpkin with you, (preferably with the insides already removed) and we will provide carving tools and lights. All are welcome to join the fun and the mess!
The Traidpoint Cafe will be open as normal for you to grab a warm drink and a biscuit.
All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Choral Evensong service to remember all those who have died, both within the last year and further.
Join us for an evening service of candlelight, carols and reflection as we mark the beginning of the season of Advent. Gather with us as we make our way through the church, guided by the glow of candles and the music of wonderful Advent Carols sung by the Choir.
Advent is traditionally a time of preparation, readying our hearts and minds for the coming of Jesus and this special season, together as a community sharing in the love, hope and peace that Christmas brings.
All are welcome to this special evening of worship and music as we look towards the light of Christmas. We all follow a service sheet and are guided by the servers as we move through the church.
Our Toddler group is a free session for those aged from birth to 5 years. There are a range of toys, crafts and activities on offer. we also have a story usually themed around a bible message and snack time. We also offer a baby area and have plenty of space for prams, buggys and bags. We meet on Monday afternoons in the church where our volunteers are ready to wlecome you. We offer a baby change facility in our new toilets, hot drinks for parents/carers and helpful caring insights into parenting challenges.
This is a termtime only activity. We break for half terms, Christmas, Easter and Summer Holidays
Our main Sunday Communion Service, with hymns, a musical setting and choir anthem, and an address. There is no formal Sunday School, but there will be activities for children in our children's corner, and people with safeguarding training to work with them.
We welcome the Royal British Legion for a Remembrance Sunday Service to honour and remember those who lost their lives in service to their country, and for all those who continue to fight for peace. There is a large Parade of local organisations which starts at 10:30am from Somers Square in the town centre, with laying of the wreaths at the cenotaph at 10:45, and the observed 2 minute silence at 11am. The service of Remembrance takes place inside the church. The Parade will reconvene after the service and continue to their end point.
Please note that the roads around the Town Centre and the church will be closed for the parade so please plan your journey ahead if you would like to attend this service. There is no eucharist at this service.
A service of prayer book evensong (a traditional sixteenth century service of prayers and readings) with hymns and an address, with the congregation joining in singing the canticles and responses
A morning coffee concert with singer Helen Pearson who will be treating us to a repertoire of songs from the 40's 50's and 60's in to mark Remembrance Day. Tickets are £5 on the door, no need to book ahead, just turn up and enjoy the wonderful music. Refreshments will be available after the concert
Pizza and prayer is group that welcomes young people from the age of 14-18 into church. We meet monthly, catch up, share in takeaway pizza and thanksgiving conversation, we craft, we play games, we chat, we do whatever the mood takes and finish our afternoon in the candle prayer corner, praying over the month ahead. Get into the festive spirit at our traditional Church Christmas Fair! Join us for a wonderful time of Christmas cheer, try your luck on one of the tombolas or games, browse through the selection of stalls, take a shot at winning the Christmas hamper and enjoy festive fun for all ages. The iconic church tower will be open for Tower Tours with our bell ringers, come and see the ringing room, the mighty bells and the inner workings of the clock, then look out and marvel at the view from the parapet!
The town Christmas light switch on takes place on the same day so there is plenty of Christmas fun to be had all day throughout the town. It's a great start to the festive season and a fun day for all the family. We look forward to seeing you there!

Coffee Church takes place monthly at St John's. We serve coffee and cake from 12pm, sometimes there is light music and conversation from our Traidpoint cafe for the first half an hour and at 12.30pm we start our informal, table based worship.
This service is design to give easy access to church and faith, ideal for anyone who hasn't been to church before, like something with a bit of interaction and enjoys a short service.
Lead by Rev'd Sarah or NWCC Claire it offers gentle, prayer, worship, conversation, activity and music around a set theme - usually following the Christian Calendar. We look forward to welcoming you in the future
Friendly, fun, accessible family worship, exploring bible stories and themes through craft, singing, prayers, practical storytelling and food, Messy Church is a well loved worship style that breaks down the barrier for children and adults to access Church, faith and worship.
At St John's, we invite you to join us to see what it is all about and aim to be as accessible as possible so that all families, particularly those with children who have additonal needs, are neurodiverse or disabled can still be a part of the fun.

November's Messy Church will be a bit different to normal! Join us from the later time of 3:30pm for a cosy, festive evening watching a short Christmas Movie while enjoying delicious hot chocolate and some other tasty treats. There will be a few Christmas crafts and activities available for those who want to start their Christmas creating, then after the movie we will all pop on our coats and head out into the church yard to watch the light switch on in the town. A gentler way to enjoy the town festivities without being in the centre of the hustle and bustle!
There is no charge for our Messy Church sessions, although we do appreciate any donations you can give to help these events keep running. No need to book, just turn up and enjoy!
Come and enjoy the magic of Christmas at our Annual Christmas Tree Festival at St John's! Enjoy a wonderful display of beautifully decorated trees, provided by groups and members of the Halesowen Community. Each tree represents the people who decorated it and reflects their creativity, sparkle and festive spirit. Wander through the church and enjoy the gentle festive atmosphere, bring the family, meet a friend, or simply come in for a moment to sit in stillness and reflect whilst surrounded by Christmas lights.
The tree festival is open during our cafe open hours on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10:30am to 12:30pm throughout the month of December.
Our volunteers are on hand to offer a warm welcome and the cafe is open for a cuppa to enjoy. For any youngsters visiting, see if you can spot our trail of hiding elves and uncover their secret message! On Saturday mornings there will be live Christmas Musical events for everyone to enjoy. 5th- BUGS Ukulele Strummers // 12th - Halas Homes Sing and Sign Choir // 19th - Carols round the Piano
There is no charge to visit the Tree Festival, however if you wish to leave a donation towards the running of this beautiful building you will be helping to ensure the Church is open for many more Christmases to come!
Our All Age Worship service is intended to bring everyone together for a short, easy to follow service, involving all of the church family. We will still follow the pattern of a Communion service, but more condensed. With well-known hymns, screen projection to follow the service and a short talk specifically planned with all ages in mind.
