The book of Common prayer communion service takes place most Sunday mornings at 08:00 in church. One of our regular attenders says: “I love the BCP service because of the simplicity of the old liturgy and the beauty of its words. And though there are many words, their effect is to create a peaceful interlude, a sense of tranquillity at the beginning of a new week.”

Messy Church is a fun, creative way of doing church, involving hospitality and celebration. We meet in the church hall and do crafts and games together, with a delicious breakfast. We share bible stories and our own stories, with prayer and songs. Our aim is to get to know one another and to discover more about Jesus together.

We meet each week at 09:00 on a Monday morning for prayer. This meeting is open to all and is quite informal. This is an opportunity to come together to pray for the church, our community, for different people, our nation and beyond. We can share together, and in prayer, those cares and concerns that we have.
We will look at some passages from the Bible. We will sometimes look at the Daily Prayer Book. We also have a prayer bowl where you can leave prayer requests for the vicar. We also remember to give thanks to God for hearing us and for answered prayer, and for all the good things He gives us.

This warm and welcoming group is for parents and carers with babies and young children (up to school age) and meets on Wednesday mornings at the Church Hall in Elsfield Road from 9.30 am to 11.30 am during term time. We have a big collection of toys, books and activities and when the weather is good, we can also play in the enclosed yard behind the hall. Tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided. It is funded by the church so there is no charge.

Our mid-week communion service takes place each Wednesday at 09:30 in church.
We have a friendly half hour communion service with a thoughtful talk and then, covid allowing,
we meet in the vestry for coffee and cake and biscuits. In our gatherings, our little chats are amazingly
varied and we can get to know each other better. We usually number about ten to twelve people.

Our all age lunch club is a new regular event that started in 2022. This is open to local people and takes place on the the last Friday of each month from 12:30. The food is home made by Jackie (a qualified and experienced caterer) and her team. The venue is the church hall in Elsfield Road. The meal is a two-course meal, including a vegetarian option and jacket potatoes.  Come with ideas for a name, games, music and to make new friends. The cost is a £4.00 donation. Our communion service takes place on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. It is open to all who believe. After the service we meet at the church hall for refreshments.

The Celtic Gatherings are informal and open to all. We will be marking key seasons and moments during the year, following the thoughts in the book by David Cole – “The Celtic Year”. Meetings are held in garden of vicarage outside the eco-hub all year round. We will usually gather around an open fire and maybe write things down then casting them onto the fire as a symbol of letting go. There will be some liturgy, some sharing, some reading of the bible and closing in prayer. There will be hot drinks and marshmallows. People need to bring a blanket and warm clothes if it is cold.

Our monthly all age service open to all the community. Service features our adult and junior choirs, the church band, contemporary praise and worship songs and communion.

Evening Prayer (often called Evensong), in the Anglican Church, is the traditional service when people come to church to worship in the late afternoon or early evening. We have both congregational and choral services and twice a year we join with Headington Trinity church.

Coffee Pot meets monthly at the church hall and is primarily for the bereaved but welcomes anyone who would like to meet more people. We provide tea, coffee and light refreshments and people are able to chat with old friends or meet new ones.
There is usually a short five minute talk on a religious theme or occasionally we may invite a visiting speaker to update us on topics of interest to the group. At Christmas we have a more festive meeting and enjoy singing a few carols. Once or twice a year we have a soup or sandwich lunch. There is no charge for attending but donations towards the cost of refreshments are welcome.

Meet in the memorial garden at 10:30 on the first Sunday of the month. There will be a short time of prayer then followed by an activity. Activities include nature walks, bulb planting, allotment maintenance, etc. Afterwards we meet at the eco-hob outside the vicarage for refreshments.
