Welcome to St James the Deacon Church in Woodthorpe. We are a Church of England parish church, part of the Diocese of York, and are a registered Inclusive church. Our regular services include Morning Prayer Monday - Friday at 8:30am, Eucharist on Wednesdays at 10am and Parish Eucharist on Sundays at 10am. On the first Wednesday of each month our Eucharist includes prayers for Healing and Wholeness. During term time we hold family worship afternoons every other Saturday called Junction Kids, running from 3pm - 5pm and ending with tea.

A reflective Eucharist each week, walking prayerfully with Jesus to the cross.

Worship for the whole family. All are welcome to join us for this informal time of worship with songs, stories, crafts and activities. We end the afternoon by sharing tea together. All completely free and all families welcome.

On Saturday 28 March, parishes across our area will be coming together for a joint pilgrimage.
The pilgrimage will begin with prayer at Bishopthorpe Palace Chapel, before continuing to St Andrew’s, Bishopthorpe, then on to St Chad’s on the Knavesmire, arriving with us at St James the Deacon, and finally concluding at St Edward’s, Dringhouses.
Everyone is warmly invited to take part - whether for the whole pilgrimage or just a section - and to travel by whatever means of transport is most accessible to them.
