Love Food Hate Waste

Yorkshire born and bred Nigel Brown has spent a lifetime in the hotel and catering industry, working at some of the UK’s biggest and busiest hotels, running his own cookery schools, writing award-winning cookery books and appearing on various TV and radio shows. Recently he has been interviewed on Radio Humberside about cooking economically and has catered for a BBC Children in Need Charity Auction, where he produced 575 breakfasts, 1000 canapés and 675 lunches.

Nigel Brown has been promoting the Love Food Hate Waste campaign for the last 10 years, travelling nationwide to demonstrate quick and easy recipes using leftovers.

"As a chef and a Yorkshireman, the theme of ‘Love Food Hate Waste’ is naturally a way of life for me. Food is expensive, so the mere thought of throwing it in the bin fills me with horror. At my cookery school what we can't transform into another meal we recycle or compost it to reduce food waste. In his presentation at St Peter’s Church, Nigel showed how the make the best of leftovers, including a wonderful dessert made from the remains of a Christmas pudding. We also had the chance to taste two of his delicious soup recipes and some of the food he had cooked at the demonstration. A highly entertaining was had by all and we are grateful to Nigel for making space in his busy diary to give us such a wonderful evening.
