SUNRISE EASTER SUNDAY SERVICE

Occuring
for 1 hour, 15 mins
Venue
Monks Eleigh, St Peter
Address
Monks Eleigh, St Peter, Church Hill Monks Eleigh Ipwich, IP7 7LG, United Kingdom

On the morning of Easter Sunday at 7am a Service will be held outside St Peters Monks Eleigh at the foot of our cross. Candles will be lit, Taize songs will be sung and flowers placed on the cross to celebrate Jesus resurrection .

After Jesus was crucified on the Friday, his body was taken down from the cross and buried in a cave tomb. The tomb was guarded by Roman soldiers and an enormous stone was put over the entrance. On Sunday Mary Magdalene and some of Jesus' disciples visited the tomb where they discovered that he was not there and that he had risen from the dead.

Following this service we will go inside the Church for refreshments - a warm drink and some baps with bacon and butter.

This is a moving service and we hope you will be able to join us then.

Church Easter Egg Hunt

Occuring
for 1 hour, 30 mins
Venue
Monks Eleigh, St Peter
Address
Monks Eleigh, St Peter, Church Hill Monks Eleigh Ipwich, IP7 7LG, United Kingdom

Easter Eggs represent new life and rebirth. In Medieval times eating eggs was forbidden during Lent so on Easter Sunday, tucking into an egg was a real treat. This has developed to our custom of eating Chocolate Easter Eggs on Easter Sunday.

Ever mindful that some parents choose not to give their children a lot of chocolate these days our Easter Egg Hunt will consist of children making their own Easter Egg from card and colouring pens and then having it hidden to be discovered.

There will be refreshments following this activity and some chocolate will be available to those who can have it.

All children and families are welcome other you attend Church regularly or not.

This event will take place at 3pm.
