New here?

Are you looking for a church in Zwolle? Whether you’re a one-time visitor or someone looking for a new home church, please do drop by. We’d love to welcome you!

What to Expect

Are you thinking of visiting our church - perhaps just once, or maybe as part of your search for a spiritual community? Please do come - you are guaranteed a warm welcome!

We’re here for all kinds of visitors: whether you’re just passing through, looking for an English-speaking congregation, or drawn to the Anglican tradition, liturgy and beautiful music. Or maybe you’re simply hoping to find a place where you can feel at home - wherever you’re coming from, we’re glad to have you.

We’ll provide you with liturgy and hymn books when you arrive, and we are happy to help with any questions you may have. Feel free to sit anywhere that is comfortable.

During the service, there’s a cash collection, but as a newcomer, you’re welcome to let the bowl pass without feeling obliged to give. (In fact, many of our regular visitors prefer to give online.)

On the first Sunday of the month, we celebrate Holy Communion, also known as Eucharist. This is a central part of Anglican worship, where baptised Christians are invited to receive bread and wine as a sign of Christ’s presence. If you’re not baptised or would prefer not to receive Communion, you’re warmly invited to come forward for a prayer of blessing, or to simply remain seated.

On the third Sunday, we usually hold an Evensong service - a traditional Anglican evening service based on choral music, scripture, and prayer. It’s a beautiful and reflective way to close the day.

After the service, please stay for coffee and a chat in the community centre hall, just next door to the church building. It’s a great opportunity to meet others and feel more at home.

Getting Involved

It’s very easy to get involved. Start by signing up for our email newsletter or WhatsApp group to keep up with services, news, and other events.

We also hold Newcomers’ Tea once or twice a year. These informal gatherings are a great opportunity to meet others who are new and ask any questions you may have about our community.

One of the best ways to feel at home is by volunteering. You could help prepare coffee, read a Bible passage during the service, or join the choir.

We understand that it can take time to decide if this is the right place for you, so feel free simply to come along for a while to see how it goes. If you’d like to talk anything through before making a commitment, our chaplains Ruan and Angela are always available for a chat.

Becoming a Member

We are often asked how to become a member of our community. In fact, Anglican churches like ours don’t have a formal membership system. Instead, we express our belonging by attending worship, getting involved as volunteers, and supporting the church financially through regular giving.

However, we do encourage everyone to join the electoral roll, which allows you to vote at our annual meeting; a formal way of showing your commitment to this congregation. You’ll hear more about how to sign up each spring, in the lead-up to our annual meeting.

It’s through regular worship, community life, and service that you’ll gradually find your place here and grow in faith, friendship, and belonging.

What Next?

Not everyone takes a next step right away - or even needs to. But if you're curious about deepening your connection with the church, there are some meaningful paths to consider.

If you haven’t been baptised yet, you might consider being baptised as an adult. Maybe you want to renew your baptismal vows, or being confirmed by a bishop in the Anglican Church. These are all ways to publicly affirm your faith and become more deeply rooted in the life of the Church.

If that interests you, please speak with our chaplains Ruan or Angela, who are always happy to talk after the service or meet up at another time. They’re here to help with any questions you might have about faith, pastoral concerns, or next steps.

Ultimately, most people who become part of our church family do so simply by showing up, joining in, and supporting the life of the community.
