St John the Baptist Church stands at the heart of Kingsthorpe Village, a place of worship and community for many centuries. With its beautiful historic architecture, peaceful churchyard, and strong sense of continuity, St John’s has long been a spiritual home for the people of Kingsthorpe.

Although rooted in deep history, St John’s is very much a living, active church today - welcoming everyone, whatever your age, background, or experience of church.

⭐ Worship and Community Life

Our main Sunday service takes place at 10am, offering a warm, traditional Anglican style of worship with hymns, prayer, and thoughtful teaching. Whether you’re exploring faith or returning after some time away, you’re very welcome to join us.

St John’s is part of the wider Parish of Kingsthorpe Team Ministry, alongside St Mark’s and St David’s. Together, our three churches offer a rich pattern of worship, groups, and events throughout the week.

🌿 A Church Shaped by History

St John the Baptist is one of the oldest churches in Northampton, with origins reaching back to the medieval period. Over the centuries, the church has witnessed baptisms, weddings, celebrations, and moments of remembrance for countless generations.

Today, we honour this heritage by caring for the building, cherishing its stories, and continuing the ministry that has taken place here for hundreds of years. Visitors often comment on the sense of peace and continuity they feel as soon as they step inside.

🛡 A Safe and Welcoming Place

St John the Baptist Church follows the Parish of Kingsthorpe’s safeguarding policies and is committed to ensuring that our church is a safe place for children, young people, and adults.
