Lent Course Come and See

Occurring
for 48 days, 1 hour
Venue
Banbury St Mary
Address
Horse Fair Banbury, OX16 0AA, United Kingdom

This year we will be using the Come and See material provided by the Diocese of Oxford for our Lent Course.

What's the plan for 2025?
The theme for 2025 is Earth, Water, Wind and Fire - Understanding Baptism. This is a chance for people to explore baptism for the first time or to revisit their own baptism, reflecting on its meaning.

Key dates
Come and See runs through Lent with daily emails and weekly films, the latter forming the main content for parish groups.

The first daily email goes out to individuals on Ash Wednesday (5 March), and they'll run through to the Monday or Tuesday following Easter, 21 or 22 April. The six weekly films are sent out each Sunday, starting from Sunday 9 March, and this year there will be three different options - the videos from Bishop Steven (aimed at adults), a video aimed at primary-aged children, and a video aimed at secondary-aged children.

Come and See weekly films
Each Sunday of Lent, we release a short film delving deeper into that week's topics. This year, as well as the usual films from Bishop Steven, there are two additional films each week - one for primary school-aged children and one for secondary school-aged children.

Banbury St Mary

Welcome to St Mary's church in Banbury. We are proud to be part of Inclusive Church, a network of churches who strive to celebrate and affirm every person and does not discriminate.

We will continue to challenge the church where it continues to discriminate against people on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality.

We believe in a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.
