April Newsletter 2021

Easter is always a time of hope, and this year is extra special because we will be able to celebrate Easter with the knowledge that things are getting better. Many of our congregation are returning after months of isolation. Hello again! Welcome back and thank you for your generosity in giving to Barsham Church while you were away. The Easter Lily Fund will provide us with a generous and floriferous display on Easter Sunday, expertly arranged by the flower team.

We have had some super services during March, and good attendances. Mothering Sunday was made special by Diana’s prettily wrapped pots of Polyanthus, given to the ladies after the service to celebrate the day. Rev’d Jonathan Olanczuk led our worship.

The PCC met recently (still on Zoom, but maybe next time, in May, face to face), and have put some dates in the diary for this year. All being well the Trinity Evensong, Summer Lunch and Harvest Supper will go ahead, and our Sunday Sung Eucharist will be resumed this summer. The choir will sing at the Trinity Evensong, and we are hoping to be able to have refreshments afterwards, either inside or outside.

Three candidates were interviewed in the second round of the search for a new Priest in Charge for Bungay Benefice. If the Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, Rt Rev’d Martin Seeley, approves the selection made we will soon be notified, and welcome our new incumbent.

Cheryl will be standing down from the post of churchwarden at the APCM, which is to be held on Thursday 20 May at 2pm in the church. If you are interested in taking on the role please speak to a PCC member or Churchwarden.
