About Us

ST NICHOLAS CHURCH, ROTHERFIELD GREYS  dates from Norman times, with several specific links to Greys Court.  Due to major re-ordering in the Victorian era there is little left of the original architecture. The church contains an early font, circa 1200, a fine brass dedicated to Sir Robert de Grey, who died in 1387 (this brass is no longer available for rubbing) , a magnificent monument in a side chapel to Sir Frances and Lady Knollys, several monuments to the Stapleton family, many memorial windows and an interesting C20th east window. In the churchyard there are some listed table tombs and an unusual brick covered grave. The Patron is Trinity College, Oxford.

THE ELIZABETH BUILDING   a recent addition to St. Nicholas is The Elizabeth Building a purpose built extension with modern facilities which may be used for meetings and group activities, creches during services or social gatherings after services. It consists of a meeting room/chapel for 30 and a smaller upper room for 10. There is good disabled access at ground floor level. The Elizabeth Building welcomes groups from other diocese/parishes who like to spend time away from their own parish. More details from: (01491) 628297
