Welcome to the parish church of Madron: St Maddern in the Anglican Diocese of Truro and county of Cornwall England.
Until Victorian times it was the parish or mother church of Penzance.
We are famous for holding an annual
Trafalgar Thanksgiving and Nelson Memorial Service.
News of Nelson's death and the victory of the battle in 1805, was brought to Penzance and a service was held at the church.
A copy of the 'Nelson Banner',which was carried in procession from Penzance, hangs in the church.
The Banner heads our parade, which includes local civic leaders, the Band, Colour and Guard from Royal Naval Air Station, Culdrose, and representatives from many other naval and service associations.
