Rogation Sunday 2025

Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
Home Farm
Address
Home Farm, Banbury Road Caversfield, OX27 8TG, United Kingdom

All Age Outdoor Service at 3pm to celebrate Rogation Sunday in the gardens at Home Farm. As we are outside please bring a garden chair or picnic rug.
Rogation comes from Latin, rogare which means ‘to ask’. Traditionally, the church congregation would walk round the parish boundaries. As they walked, they would ask for God’s blessing on the land and God’s protection on the growing crops. Today, alongside locally grown produce, we are used to round-the-year imports of a vast array of fresh food often at the expense of those who have grown it. This year let us remember to ask for God’s protection and blessing on farming communities and their crops not only here at home but around the world.

St Laurence

St Laurence's is a very friendly and welcoming church blessed with a beautiful, historic building.  Our mission is Worship, Wildlife & Welcome - we are passionate about working with and in God's creation, especially in our churchyard to create a space for worship & wildlife.  We're an all-age congregation, from the very young to the young at heart, with craft having a starring role in our 4th Sunday services and there's always time for a chat & a coffee & a slice or two of homemade cake after our services.

We welcome enquiries for Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals and all are welcome to visit on a Sunday afternoon - there are some wonderful places to sit a while in the peace of the church and the churchyard.
