Getting here

St. Nicholas is a growing church that welcomes a wide range of people to a variety of services and events.  Worship style ranges from Celebrations using modern songs, led by a music group to Evensong using the 1662 prayer book. Our regular service pattern is -

1st Sunday All Together at St Nics - a family friendly worship service with a mixture of music group and organ led worship

2nd Sunday Holy Communion - with a mixture of music group and organ led worship

3rd Sunday 'Lite Bite' at the Church Hall - an informal service including breakfast, crafts and games, a short thought and prayer

4th Sunday Holy Communion - with a mixture of music group and organ led worship

On the first Thursday of each month there is "St Nic's Nippers", for pre school children and their carers from 1.30 till 3pm, starting in the church for about 15 mins to hear a bible story and sing some action songs.  We then move to the Church Hall for play and chat. On the fourth Tuesday of each month there is "Messy Church" for primary age children and their carers, with crafts, a short time in church and a cooked tea together. This is from 4pm to 6pm and other family members are welcome to join us as they return from work. Every Tuesday morning there is a coffee fellowship in the church hall, which provides a friendly environment for all between 10am and 12 noon. A number of small groups meet regularly, and the Alpha course is run annually. The church is an active member of Bawtry Churches Together, and engages with the community in a number of ways, including the CAP Money Course.

The church engages with the “New Wine” network of churches and used to attend the summer conference in Newark. In 2016 we attended the “One Event” conference at Lincoln and will do so again in 2017.

We operate a Dress Agency “Cherish” on Bawtry High Street, as a prophetic action and means of engaging with the community. This incidentally raises money for the church and other charities We have regular prayer times on a Tuesday morning in church, a Wednesday morning in Cherish and once a month on a Monday evening.  Prayer is at the heart of all we do.

Our mission statement is -

“We Gather as Christ’s people, valuing everyone’s contribution; Growing in our faith, love and service; Going into the world as disciples.” or briefly "We gather to grow and to go”
