The Church of All Souls’, Leeds (The Hook Memorial)
All Souls' is an inclusive, liberal, Anglo Catholic Church and welcome everyone to our beautiful building, whether you join us for a Service, attend a Concent or Event, or just want to take a moment away from the bustle of city life.
All Souls' shares our Vicar, Rev (Mother) Sonia Kasibante with Saint Martins, Potternewton, who along with our Self Supporting Associate Minister, Rev (Mother) Lynne Grey and other supporting clergy ensure that our spiritual and liturgical needs are met.
All Souls' is an active and growing church and is fortunate to have three services a week, as well as services on Feast Days. Our principal Service being our Sunday Solemn Mass at 11am and we also have a weekly Midweek Mass at 10:30am on a Wednesday morning and Evening Prayer at 6pm on a Thursday Evening. (Book of Common Prayer - Lay Led). All serives other than our Sunday Mass are either in the Lady Chapel or in the Hook Room in the Undercroft during the winter.
All Souls' is a supportive church community and endevours to make all feel welcome and included. Part of our offer is a thriving offer of social events, meals together, movie nights as well as regular Bible Study on Thursday Evenings.
The District Church Council and Churchwardens are proud to be custodians of the 'Hook Memorial Church', and continue to worship in the Anglo Catholic tradition, for which are Church was designed by George Gilbert Scott (his last design before his death) and built through generous donation from rich and poor as a memorial to Dr Walter Hook. Dr Hook had been Vicar of Leeds and was responsible for taking Anglo Catholic Churches to (what were at the time) the outer districts of Leeds and to its working class people, many of whom were living in extreme poverty.
All Souls' is a beautiful Church had no expense spared on it, from its carvings, glass in its windows and fine Abbott & Smith Organ (showcase instrument as their workshop was further down Blackman Lane), and enhances and embraces our liturgy.
