About Us

Who we are

Sherford Community Church is a brand new Anglican Evangelical church starting in the new town of Sherford. We are a group of people of all ages and backgrounds, brought together by our common love for Jesus in response to his great love for us.

We are Anglican, that is, we are part of the Church of England, a nationwide network of churches seeking to help people to know Jesus and make Jesus known. The Church of England is part of the Anglican Communion, a worldwide network of churches.

We are Evangelical, that is, we believe firmly that God has spoken to us uniquely in the Bible. In the Bible God tells us everything we need to know about who he really is, who we really are, and the wonderful things he has done for us through history. Chiefly, the Bible tells the story of a God who loves his people so much that he went to extraordinary lengths to rescue us and bring us back into relationship with him.

Our vision

We want to build a gospel community in Sherford, bringing the gospel message to Sherford.

Being a gospel community means people loving one another after the example of Jesus and helping one another to know and love him better. We do this by looking at the Bible and praying together, as well as by sharing life together.

The gospel message is the wonderfully good news that Jesus, God's own Son, lived the perfect life we could never live and died the death that we deserve. It means that instead of facing the right anger of God at our rebellion against him we can receive forgiveness and reconciliation with him.

Our partners

We are part of the Peninsula Gospel Partnership, a network of evangelical churches of all denominations working together to see a Christ-centred, Bible-teaching, people-loving church available to every community in Cornwall and Devon. This group is, in turn, part of a wider nationwide network of regional Gospel Partnerships up and down the country. Click the links for more details.

We also encourage our church family to join GAFCON UK, a the local expression of the worldwide GAFCON movement. They seek to support and connect broad-based, Jesus-centred, biblically-orthodox Anglican Christians in the UK and beyond. If you're interested, why not follow the link and join up yourself?
