Would you like to know a little more about one of the most influential books in the whole world – The Bible? This is an invitation to join a small group of church members who will be doing just that between now and the start of Lent. Christians read the Bible because in doing so, we believe that we will hear God speaking and will learn more about who he is and what he has done for us. Starting on 18th January the mid-week group which meets in St Philip’s Church Hall at 8pm for an hour or so on alternate Wednesday evenings will be taking a look at the Bible under these headings: 18th Jan: What is the Bible?1st Feb: The Bible as breath15th Feb: The Bible as a stream of living water1st March: The Bible as a lamp15th March: The Bible as a two-edged sword29th March: Daily Bread We will be using the 'Pilgrim Course' on the Bible and we would love to welcome everyone who would like to join for one or all of these six sessions. A recent survey by the Church of England of UK adults showed that overall nearly half (48%) said they had ever prayed with just over a quarter (28%) saying they have prayed in the last month! The Bible reminds us to "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Praying continually though can sometimes feel hard to do, even for Christians. This is when asking someone else to pray for you can be so helpful. But what if you don’t want to tell anyone about your particular issue? Or maybe you don’t have a Christian family member, friend, or colleague you can ask to pray for you. This is where our ‘Prayer Wall’ can help. You can submit a prayer by clicking on the pink plus sign on the page. Please be mindful that this is a public page so avoid using people's names unless you have their permission. You can post your prayer anonymously as well so no one will know it is you who has made the request, although God will know!
