Welcome to Holy Trinity Sunningdale (HTS)
Sharing God's Love

At HTS we are a lively, diverse community that is family friendly and open to all. Our church is made up of all sorts of people, from those with a strong Christian faith to those beginning to explore Christianity. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey you are welcome.

As a church community we recognise we are each a work in progress as we discover the love God has for us and His world. We want our faith to be a living faith, not just a routine of church attendance. We want to share the joyful hope we have in Jesus Christ and offer ourselves in loving service to our community.

It was the Apostle Paul who first started putting “faith, hope and love” together in various letters and writings. These characteristics are at the heart of Christian experience and St.Paul refers to them in different ways, perhaps most famously at the end of 1 Corinthians 13 in the New Testament. “And now these three remain, faith, hope and love. And the greatest of these is love.”

At Holy Trinity we seek to let faith, hope and love be the central characteristics of who we are as a community and how we live our lives. We want our faith to be a living faith; not just a set of rules or doctrines, but a genuine experience and encounter with God informing every part of every day.

Our hope is joyful because we have already seen what Christ has done for us at the cross and that God is faithful to His promises.  Although our situation now may be painful or troubling, sorrowful or difficult, with God the story isn’t over yet! His promises to be with us, comfort us and fill us with His Spirit allow us to express a joyful hope.

As we experience the love of God and see the way Jesus served others, so we learn to offer our loving service to the community around. To quote an often used phrase; we are learning to live loved.

Belonging. We live at a time where isolation is increasing and the virtual friendships on offer through social media seem to suggest everyone else is having an amazing life. In reality, loneliness is on the rise. As a church community we belong to each other and we matter to each other. The Christian Faith is a bit meaningless unless experienced as a genuine community. At Holy Trinity nobody needs to ask if they can belong. The answer is always yes.

Invitation. Holy Trinity is so much more than a beautiful church building (although we are VERY proud of it). We are a loving community made up of all sorts of people of every age, sharing the journey of faith and learning as we go. A warm welcome is extended to everyone and the following liturgy, borrowed from the Iona Community, beautifully represents our invitation to you.

So come to this table,
you who have much faith
and you who would like to have more;
you who have been here often,
and you who have not been here for a long time;
you who have tried to follow Jesus,
and you who have failed;
Come.
It is Christ who invites us to meet him here.
