St Leonard's is an Anglican church to the south of Telford town centre.
We are a church keen to grow and to be a positive and developing influence to the glory of God and the extension of God's kingdom within particularly the Malinslee area where we are situated.
We have worship services on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at 11.15am. Our worship could be described as traditional and liturgical in style yet seeking to be progressive and creative. We are always seeking to improve and make it welcoming for those who come regularly to church and for those who perhaps haven't been for a while. During "normal times", regular clubs for the community are run during the week. Jolly Tots of Malinslee, a group for parents and toddlers, is on Tuesday mornings from 9 - 11.30 am; an open Coffee Morning (previously billed as for over 50s) is from 10 - 12 noon on Wednesdays and the Knit and Natter group meets throughout the year except at Christmas from 1 - 3.30 pm on Thursdays. From the beginning of March to the end of October, unless it is neded for other activities, for example, weddings and church Fairs, the church is open from 10 -12 noon on Saturdays for visitors and for private prayer or meditation. Three times a year we have Sing-along at Tea-time sessions at 4 pm on Sundays to celebrate the main events in the Christian calendar: Advent/Christmas, Easter and Harvest.
Please come and check us out for yourself!
St Leonard's Church was built in 1805 and is the smallest of only three churches in England designed by Thomas Telford . Our picture gallery gives some images.
As a church we are part of the Church of England parish of Central Telford, within the Diocese of Lichfield. We seek to work closely with other Anglican churches and churches of other denominations within the town. We are also glad to have close links with a couple of local primary schools, who have various services and special events, like "Experience Christmas" and "Experience Easter" in the building during the year. Part of the ministry of St Leonard's also includes work within a local sheltered housing scheme. Each year we support the Christmas Shoe Box appeal, run by Samaritan's Purse, to help disadvantaged children and the Christian Aid Week in May. Other charities we have supported are two Dalit Children in India, Twinned Toilets and Chrsitians Against Poverty debt service.
There is more information about us through the various links on this webpage and weekly details of events on our wordpress web site.
You are very welcome to join us for any of our Sunday services and clubs during the week and we hope to see you some time!
May God bless you...
