The service at St. Werburgh’s on 26th November was a fitting memorial to those who lost their lives in the explosion in the gypsum mine on 27th November 1944. We heard the voices of people who were there, telling of their memories of that time. Prayers were said and hymns were sung. The names of all who died were read out and remembered, followed by a two minute silence. It was Terry’s first service as our new Vicar – one that, I am sure, he will remember for a long time.
The Institution & Induction of The Reverend Terence James Williams took place at St. Werburgh’s Church Hanbury on the evening of Thursday 23rd November 2023. Terry was supported by his family and friends as well as folk from his previous parishes and members of the local congregations. The Mayor of East Staffordshire, Councillor Syed Hussain, was in attendance, together with a great number of clergy from around the area. People from all four of our local villages took part in the service, led by The Rt. Revd. Matthew Parker, Bishop of Stafford. It was truly a joyful occasion and we are all looking forward to Terry’s ministry.
