WELCOME TO OUR NEW VICAR St. Werburgh’s was almost full on the evening of Wednesday 20th May for the Licensing Service, led by The Rt. Revd Matthew Parker, Bishop of Stafford, accompanied by the Archdeacon, The Revd Dr Megan Smith and Rural Dean, Revd Robin Trotter. It was a truly joyous occasion and we were delighted to welcome our new Priest in Charge – Revd Liz Chamberlain. We all look forward to getting to know Liz and her husband, Ray, and hope they will both settle into the life of our four villages and churches. Please pray for Liz as she continues her ministry.
The magazine is arriving regularly around the end of each month, from February to December, bringing news to our four villages. We hear from various local clubs and organisations too, so truly a community magazine. If you would like to receive a copy by post, it will cost 40p per month, plus postage, currently 87p per month. Please do contact us for details.
The service at St. Werburgh’s on 26th November was a fitting memorial to those who lost their lives in the explosion in the gypsum mine on 27th November 1944. We heard the voices of people who were there, telling of their memories of that time. Prayers were said and hymns were sung. The names of all who died were read out and remembered, followed by a two minute silence. It was Terry’s first service as our new Vicar – one that, I am sure, he will remember for a long time.
