Church of England Diocese of Lichfield St. Thomas, Mow Cop

Welcome to St Thomas!

Welcome to the parish of St Thomas , Mow Cop. We are a small, but growing congregation who pride ourselves on giving a warm welcome to all, whether a regular worshipper, a member of the local community or a visitors form afar-you are welcome!

Our services are built on the framework of liturgy found in Common Worship, but are relaxed and easy to follow. We enjoy a variety of worship styles, balancing traditional hymns with contemporary songs, straightforward Bible readings with dramatised stories and intercessory prayers with interactive prayer activities.

We have tried to make our service booklets easy to navigate and all our hymns and readings are displayed on a big screen for easy reading (Arial font in yellow on a mid-blue background). We also have a loop system for the hard of hearing/partial hearing and are working towards becoming a dementia friendly church. At present we have no toilet in the church building, however there are two toilets open in the hall next door (one disabled). We have a portable ramp to help those in wheelchairs in and out of the church, a space in the church for wheelchairs and buggies and can offer a wheelchair for the duration of the service, should it be required.

Our regular activities include a fortnightly house-group, a monthly prayer group, 'Good Companions' (a once a month fellowship group for those of mature years), and an Open the Book Team who take dramatised Bible Stories into the local church. We usually have a small Sunday school during the Sunday morning services but during this current lockdown children are receiving Sunday School activity packs delivered to their homes.
