As you will all be aware from previous items on this page, our parish
Church is struggling both financially and with the practical aspects of
maintaining the church. We have a Parochial Church Council at St Peter’s
(not to be confused with the Parish Council) which consists of just 3
members all of, dare I say it, Pensionable age.

We have work that needs to be completed following our last 5 yearly
Church Architects report (next due in 2027) and those who walk through
the church yard along the public foot path will have noticed our church
notice board needs replacing. We are currently having to secure notices
on the front of the glass as it is unsafe to open. We also have had a
problem with a churchyard tree just this week, which will need further
attention. We are grateful to the villagers who cleared the road and dealt
with the branches on our behalf thank you.
One of the Jobs that needs doing is rubbing down of the churchyard fence
and repainting, and there are a few other smaller jobs too.
We are looking to have a work party in July. Would you be able to assist
us? It would be a big help if we could get the remaining issues from our
last “inspection” completed. Please get in touch if you would consider
joining us on the work party (date to be decided) or help in any way.
At our Annual Parish Church Meeting on 6th May, the PCC expressed
concerns about the viability of the Church and will be contacting the
diocesan Financial Department for advice and will be requesting to see
the Archdeacon to consider our way forward.
