On 7th August 2022, Rev. Nigel Clemas retired after 24 years serving our three parishes. The parishes of Whitmore, Maer and Chapel Chorlton wish him all the best in his retirement. The three churches are now in a period of interregnum until a new vicar has been appointed. In the meantime, please send Maer Church enquiries to [email protected] and we will be in touch as soon as we can.

The Church of St Peter, Maer, is a Grade II* listed traditional country church in a very attractive setting opposite Maer Hall. Our church wardens are Wendy Kinson & Dorothy Bennison. To find out more about the history, archaeology, and architecture of this Grade II\* listed church, go to the Church of England’s online heritage database; the Church Heritage Record.

Our church is generally open during daylight hours but if you want to be sure of access then contact one of the Church Wardens.

If you are interested in being married in Maer Church, then do contact the Church Wardens.

Every other Sunday at 9.30am we have a Holy Communion service with hymns and songs of an hour long, with a children's corner. Around 20 - 25 attending. On alternate Sundays there is a 9.30am Communion service at the sister church of Chapel Chorlton, a mile away. There are soft toys and colouring sheets in the children's corner, and refreshments are served after each 9.30am service.

The monthly benefice magazine 'One Way' is available at the back of church, along with the weekly noticesheet which contains details of services and local events.

Our safeguarding officer is Wendy Kinson, 01782 680613.
