Church of England Diocese of Chichester Burwash

St Bartholomew, Burwash

Burwash church warmly welcomes all visitors.  People often come to the church as part of a visit to Bateman's, the famous National Trust property.  We love to see your nice remarks in our visitors' book.

With the pandemic in progress, these are strange and changeable times.  In normal (non-Covid) times we have coffee together after Sunday service and it's so nice to welcome folk from all over the world.  We have been aiming to stay open for a Sunday service whenever it is allowed by law and, with vaccinations in progress, we so look forward to returning to normality.

Our wonderful Rector retired in 2020 but we hope to find someone new within a few months.  How very much we look forward to the day we have a Rector again!

Our Safeguarding statement:

If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services

Our group has been meeting in the church every Wednesday morning for a couple of years: how time flies! Our numbers have steadily grown and we have a core group of just over 20 ladies and gentlemen.
I asked for comments to describe their enjoyment of the mornings and was told:
‘Everyone is very welcoming and friendly;’
‘We have delicious home-made cake;’
‘Come along and find out all about dentures and spectacles!’
‘Interesting anecdotes about life in Burwash over the last 60-70 years;’
‘It is so lovely to have this get-together every week’.

Thank you to all our lovely ladies and gentlemen who have made the 3Cs coffee mornings so much fun!

Our splendid Rector retired last September after 6.5 years of devoted service here. Now we can report the next step in finding someone new. Roll on that happy day!
