Members of our church family and the wider village community gathered at The Black Horse, Byworth, for our annual Harvest Supper. The evening provided a wonderful opportunity to come together to give thanks for the blessings of the season and the hard work of our local farmers and all they provide. Following the meal our traditional Harvest Produce Raffle took place. Thanks to the immense generosity of those who donated homegrown vegetables, fruit, jams, chutneys, flowers, wine and two generous gift and cheese hampers. We had 5 lucky winners! And raised a fantastic £335 for church funds. Our sincere thanks also to the landlord and staff at The Black Horse for hosting us so warmly and providing a delicious supper, to everyone who donated items for the raffle and to all who attended and made the evening such a success.
St. Bartholomew’s Church Egdean had 5 riders and striders taking part in the event and we had 8 members of the congregation manning the church during the day, welcoming our visitors. We were the ONLY church in the diocese that was manned specifically for welcoming riders and striders - something we are very proud of.We are thrilled to say we met our target of £1000 - with 50% of this going to St. Bartholomew’s Church and 50% to The Sussex Historic Churches Trust (of which we have received help from in the past).Thank you to everyone who took part in this event and making it happen.
