Sunday Worship

Venue
Midhurst Parish Church
Address
Church Hill Midhurst, GU29 9NX, United Kingdom

Our Sunday worship follows a monthly pattern.

On the first Sunday of each month we have a sung service of Holy Communion with an organist and robed choir.
On the second Sunday in the morning, we have a service of Holy Communion.
On the third and fourth Sundays of the month the services are Holy Communion with a less formal feel than the first Sunday.
On the third Sunday, we also have at 5pm a reflective service of Holy Communion, often with Taizé music.

All the morning services are at 10:30am.

Children and families
We are always delighted to welcome children and families to our services. There is a children’s area available for every service and packs for those children who would rather stay in the pews. Twice a month our children’s group ‘Sparks’ meets. The children and their parents or carers begin in church together before the children are taken out to their own venue for their activities.

Refreshments
At the end of Sunday morning services we usually have time for tea, coffee and a chat. We really value this time of fellowship and sharing. We do hope that you will join us.

Jesus’ invitation to spend quiet time with him is a recurring theme in the Gospels, and reminds us of the need for intimacy, rest and renewal. The most direct invitation is found in Mark 6:31 where Jesus tells his disciples “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest”.
The invitation is for us today, just as much as it was for the first disciples. The invitation is personal and relational – it is a call to be with him, to be quiet, to reflect and to listen to his voice, to nourish our souls and prevent spiritual dryness.
There are many ways to do this, but one that we offer at Midhurst Parish Church is the Reflective Eucharist, held on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 5pm. It is a quiet, less formal service, without hymns, but with a selection of music to aid reflection and meditation. The church is lit with candles; we arrive in silence and leave in silence and instead of a sermon we have a time to sit in quiet, to just ‘be’ and to reflect. It is a grace-filled opportunity to be loved and sustained by our God.
