Silent Prayer Together - http://www.stmarydehaura.org.uk/church-life/julian-meetings/

Contemplative prayer has been part of the Christian tradition since earliest times. In the medieval period it became mostly associated with monasticism, but in the 20th century it was reclaimed as a normal part of many people’s spiritual journey. The Julian Meetings is a network of groups to foster contemplative prayer in the Christian tradition. In contemplation we just ‘are’ before God with the four ‘S’s: Stillness, Silence, Simplicity, Surrender.

Bell's are rung before the 10am Sunday service, on special personal occasions (such as weddings & baptisms) and, of course, on national moments such as Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee & King Charles' recent Coronation. The band at St Mary's is a lovely group; a mix of men & women, and is not limited to those that worship at St Mary's. Access to the Ringing Room is via a stone, spiral-staircase in the church tower.

That said loads of folks will be heading from church to church, by foot or saddle, as individuals and groups - trying to visit as many as possible in the allotted time. Their aim is to raise funds to help maintain our historic churches through the work of Sussex Historic Church Trust.
It is unfortunate, but this year, a tax relief on many projects ended, and so there is more pressure than ever to obtain funds for these important projects. Therefore, you're support is even more invaluable than in previous years - so thank you.
If you're wishing to offer sponsorship, please speak with Phil after the Sunday 10am service or perhaps make a donation via https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/sussex-ride-and-stride.

Thank you to all those who support St Mary’s, both in their giving and their volunteering. St Mary’s is running a campaign in the next few months so we can develop the mission of the church in such areas as music, children, families, and young people, and also to provide adequate support for a new incumbent.

We will hold a service of Thanksgiving on 13th September for the support we receive, and the September magazine will have an explanation of the impact we would like to make in the future and the resources involved.

Please pray that St Mary’s will receive what we need to further Christ’s mission.
