Getting here

There is a very warm welcome awaiting you at the Church of St. Andrew, here in Worthing.. -  Good preaching and liturgy; user friendly Service Sheets containing all you need... no messing around with three books and a sheet of paper! and afterwards? great coffee and a friendly bunch of people! Since its opening in 1888 St Andrew's has been in the Catholic tradition of the Church of England and in the early days, it caused riots in the streets. Thankfully, life is now more harmonious! We still maintain our Catholic ethos... some call it ‘smells and bells’ ... yes, it’s all here at St Andrew’s! We borrow from our Roman Catholic friends their Mass and we use a wide range of hymnody reflecting the breadth of the Anglican tradition. The Church was designed by the noted Victorian architect, Sir Arthur Blomfield and is in a gentle Gothic style. We have an excellent collection of vestments and banners – some designed by Sir Ninian Comper but its real joy is the gloriously rich array of stained glass by Charles Eamer Kempe. Every window is filled with his work and this sheds a wonderful light into the building. The choir screen with its Rood above and the reredos behind the white marble high altar provide a splendid setting for the worship of Almighty God.
