Dear Friends,Here is your Saturday update from ye olde parish church of Loughborough....Sunday WorshipI am pleased to report that we have solved the Wi-Fi issue in the church building so tomorrow morning, for those unable to attend in person, the service will be live streamed on our All Saints Youtube Channel. We will start broadcasting around 10.15am with the service starting at 10.30am as usual. Apologies to those who tried to join in last week from home. The service was recorded and you can now view Revd Emily's first communion as a priest here It was a very special occasion and we were blessed with sunny weather which meant ending outside for the Blessing around Emily's new fire-pit was the perfect way to end the service for one called to ministry beyond the walls of traditional church. Thank you to everyone who contributed.Tomorrow our adult choir will lead us in worship, helping us to lift our voices, even if only in our hearts. I am preaching and Revd Elizabeth York, who is Chaplain to the Loughborough Schools Foundation and member of All Saints will be our deacon. The readings tomorrow are:Exodus 17.1-7, Philippians 2.1-3 and Matthew 21.23-32The order of service is on our websiteNHS Covid--19 Test and TraceWe now have a QR code for the Church so please if you can, download the app to a smart phone or tablet and you will be able to scan the code when you arrive. This will replace the need for you to give your name and number to one of the stewards. Don't worry if you haven't used the app before, we can support you in showing you what to do and for those unable to use the app we will still have the option of giving your details to a steward to write down. I understand there will be mixed feelings about sharing data and passions are also running high around the politics of the pandemic with conflicting views on how best the government and local organisations should be responding. My personal view is that whatever decisions each of us makes over the comings months we need to be putting the needs of the most vulnerable first. So, when we wear a face covering, wash our hands and keep our distance we are loving our neighbour as ourselves. That is how I am viewing the use of this app too. The Philippians reading tomorrow includes these words 'Let each of you look not to your own interests but to the interests of others.' This seems very timely words for the challenging months that lie ahead.Annual Meeting 30th September I can confirm that our APCM will go head both on zoom and gathered in the church building this coming Wednesday at 7.30pm. If you have not received paper work but would like a copy of the reports and agenda please just let me know. A zoom link will be sent out next week.Sharing our stories of faith in lockdownThere are just a few days left to share your story of faith during lockdown for the Shaped by God Together process. Please do think about doing this, it can be the simplest experience and can be a story of sorrow or of joy. Harvest Festival and Climate Justice Sunday 4th OctoberA reminder that we shall mark Harvest Festival next week and this year you are invited to bring fresh produce that will be donated to Fearon Hall as part of a community soup making initiative. Alternatively, you can bring long life gifts that will be given to one of our local food banks. If it would be difficult for you to come to the service on Sunday you are welcome to bring donations to the church building between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 3rd.October Herald out next weekLook out for the monthly Herald newsletter next week with news of two new online book groups starting, one on the theme of reconciliation, as part of our reflections on becoming an Intercultural Worshipping Community and another run by Leicestershire Green Christian on Virtual Leadership. There is also the opportunity to join an online Pilgrim Group this term exploring what Communion means to us and how it can be a pattern for our Christian lives. And lastly.......earlier on this year two members of our church Rachael and Dulcie were prepared for confirmation by Phillippa, taking their sessions on to zoom once lock down began. Thankfully at last they can get confirmed! Bishop Guli is coming to Barrow next Sunday evening. Numbers will be restricted so sadly we can't all go and support them on the day but please remember them in your prayers and we shall celebrate with them the following week at All Saints.Yours in Christ Reverend Wendy DalrympleRector of All Saints with Holy Trinity
Dear Friends,Here is your weekly update from All Saints.Parish Communion in Church 10.30amThis will be a celebration of Revd Emily's ordination as a priest and will be the first time that she presides at Communion. Our preacher will be the Revd Dr Stuart Burns, Director of Mission and Ministry in the Diocese and someone who has encouraged Emily's vocation over many years. All of our Covid secure measure are still in place so thank you in advance for working with us on wearing face coverings, sanitizing your hands regularly, keeping a safe distance from those not in your household and following the directions of the stewards. The rule of 6 does not apply to gatherings for worship so long as we are following Covid secure practices so please be reassured and come along if you are symptom free and feel able to do so. The current advice continues to be that those over 70 may be at a greater risk of developing sever symptoms of Covid-19 so please let's all be really mindful of how we interact when we gather especially before and after the service. Remember: Hands. Face. Space. 🙂Parish Communion online 10.30amOur intention is to live stream the service on YouTube. Apologies for those who tuned in last week, we had a technical hiccup at our end! Unfortunately at the time of writing the Wi-Fi is not responding in the church building. I have completed the usual technical advice of 'turning it off and on again!' but to no avail. Unless the issue is one that restores itself overnight we will be unable to live stream tomorrow. If that is the case the service will be recorded and be made available later on in the week. The order of service for Communion can be found on our websitehttps://allsaintsloughborough.org.uk/jml02/on-lineDaily Prayer through the weekMorning Prayer every day 9.00am live stream via FacebookEvening Prayer Monday to Friday live stream via FacebookMorning Prayer in the church building at 9.00am this coming Thursday and Saturday morning. For all the above services you will find it easy to follow if you download the Daily Prayer apphttps://aimermedia.com/app/dailyprayer/Chancel Restoration Project Work will begin on the Chancel Restoration Project in earnest from the beginning of October. This means from Monday 5th October the church building will be closed from Monday to Friday for four month. Exceptions will of course be made for funerals and any special Christmas services we are able to hold. More details in the October Herald.New ordinand joining the teamIn October we will be welcoming Liz Piki to the ministry team as a second-year ordinand as she trains for ordination at St Mellitus College. We will be welcoming Liz to All Saints on Sunday October 4th and you will be able to read more about her in next month's Herald.Harvest Festival and Climate Justice Sunday October 4thThis autumn we shall revisit the theme of our Lent sermon series of Care for God's Creation. Harvest will look and feel different this year and of course there will be no traditional harvest lunch but we shall still take the time to give thanks for the gift of creation.Sharing StoriesIf you haven't already done so already please take a moment to share a story or two of your experience of faith and lockdown as part of the Diocesan 'Shaped by God Together' listening exercise. You can click on the link https://harvestmoonpni.com/wp-content/plugins/narrafirma/webapp/survey.html#project=Leicester%20CoE&survey=Main to find your way to the form and below is a video that explains a little more about why sharing stories is going to be really helpful.https://youtu.be/LqUAfAoDl6gLastly I do hope you enjoy the couple of photos from last week's ordination at the Cathedral. In this strange year where everything is changed the words of the ordination service brought me back to the constant need to trust in God and to that sense of belonging to a worldwide community of faith and to the saints that have gone before. The words of the Bishop to those being ordained I find particularly powerful:'You cannot bear the weight of this calling in your own strength, but only by the grace and power of God. Pray therefore that your heart may daily be enlarged and your understanding of the Scriptures enlightened. Pray earnestly for the gift of the Holy Spirit.'May that be a prayer for each one of us in whatever way we are called to follow Jesus.Yours in ChristWendy Reverend Wendy DalrympleRector of All Saints with Holy Trinity
Dear Friends,Here is your weekly update from All Saints....We had a wonderful return to Parish Communion last week. It was an emotional service for many, full of endings and beginnings. I am very grateful to all who worked to ensure a safe return to the church building and helped to steward the service so that people could feel confident in attending a service safely. It was lovely to hear our choir sing, to be able to physically break bread and place it in outstretched hands and the weather was kind to us so the socially distanced picnic afterwards was a lovely ending to a special morning.Sadly Revd Mark couldn't be with us in person as he and Lesley were taking the precaution of isolating due to a raised temperature (thankfully the covid test came back clear) but they were still able to join in the service via the live stream. Please keep Chris, Esther, Maisy and Oscar, Phillippa and Jim and Mark and Lesley in your prayers as they begin the next chapter of their lives. I'm sure none of them will be strangers to us and we look forward to receiving their news as they all settle in to new contexts of training and ministry.Sunday Morning WorshipMorning Prayer is available at 9.00am to view on https://www.facebook.com/allsaintsloughborough live streamed from the church buildingParish Communion will be held in the building at 10.30am. For those unable to attend in person you can also view the service live streamed here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNymtzHV8G_EfZprXch9RIgAt the end of this email I have relisted all the instructions from last week so you can remind yourself of how things will work. Sunday Evening WorshipTomorrow evening at 6pm Revd Emily will be ordained priest at Leicester Cathedral and I do hope you will be able to watch the service via the link here https://buff.ly/2Uj3bpZNext Sunday Emily will be preside for the first time at Communion which will be our chance as a church family to celebrate with her. Our preacher on this occasion will be Revd Dr Stuart Burns, Director of Mission and Ministry in the Diocese who has been a mentor to Emily for many years. We are delighted he is able to join us.Annual Parochial Church MeetingWednesday 30th September at 7.30pm we shall be holding our annual meeting. This will be both a physical meeting in the building but will also be accessible via Zoom. More details will follow but for now please put this date in your diary.Church Electoral RollIf you are not already on the church roll and would consider All Saints your church community please consider joining the electoral roll. This mean you are eligible to vote at the annual meeting and can if you wish stand for any of the church officer roles. It is also a really helpful way for us to have a sense of who considers All Saints their church. Contact caroline@allsaintsloughborough.org.uk to ask for a form. Shaped by God TogetherLastly our Bishops Martyn and Guli have put together a short video setting out a call to prayer and an invitation for us to use these coming months to really listen to God and one another as we seek to discern how the Church will need to adapt over the coming years. These months of lockdown and closure of our church buildings have brought in to sharp focus both the opportunities and the challenges that we face as a Diocese. Please find a spare 15 minutes and have a watch of this https://youtu.be/urbmztLu3JA and then have a look at the invitation to contribute stories of your own experience over the last few months. Details can be found here https://www.leicester.anglican.org/about-us/sbgt/gathering-stories--generating-insights.php Further details of things happening through the week can be found in the September Herald the link to which I emailed out earlier this week. Dear Friends,Welcome to the Saturday bulletin from All Saints and a new term. Tomorrow morning we return to our church building for the first time since March for a service of Holy Communion. Lots of work has gone in to making this a safe space for everyone and after a rehearsal yesterday with an amazing ministry, steward and tech team I think we know what we are doing but please be patient with us as we learn a new way of gathering together safely. For those unable to attend we do hope you will join us via Youtube where the service will be live streamed from 10.15am.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNymtzHV8G_EfZprXch9RIg Here are the important things for you to note if you are coming to the building.....Doors will open at 10.00am for the service to start at 10.30am. Please use on street parking or the Old Rectory Museum unless you need close access for mobility reasons. Please wear a face covering, clean your hands as you enter the building and be ready to give you name and contact details. Stewards will take you to a seat ensuring we adhere to social distancing. Look out also for a rousing piece from Handel's Messiah sung by our Director of Mission through Music, Emma Trounson at the end of the service. At the end of the service please stay in your seat until a steward invites you to leave. Farewells to Mark, Chris and PhillippaTomorrow of course is a very special day as we say goodbye to Mark and Lesley, Chris, Esther, Oscar and Maisy and Phillippa as they prepare to move on to the next stage of their ministry. For Mark he will be finishing his curacy in a rural context supporting the life of the church in the Framland Deanery. For Chris and Phillippa it is the start of their ordination training. We shall be making a small presentation to them at the end of the service and then everyone is invited to stay for a picnic on the parish green. Wrap up warm and although we often like to share food on this occasion you will need to bring your own picnic. The September Herald will be out later today or tomorrow containing more church news and further details of services and events through the week on and offline.Best Wishes Reverend Wendy DalrympleRector of All Saints with Holy Trinity
