Some thoughts for this week
We have had some wonderful times at Prayer Spaces at the Junior School lately. Children have come from all year groups, and are open to hear the message of God’s love and respond in ways appropriate for them. Prayer is so important because it is, for one thing, so deeply personal. It is not only about what we give to the Lord, but the joy and the riches of His grace we receive from Him, as only He can give.
In our Gospel reading Jesus tells a parable that is steeped in the stuff of humanity. It is about someone using his wits to survive, not necessarily honestly, using his knowledge of the world and of other people to get himself out of a sticky situation. Jesus does not condone what he does, but Jesus does show his warmth, empathy and immersion in our lives, in us as human beings. Jesus knows we are frail, prone to weakness. Vulnerable to the circumstances and challenges from living in the world.
Prayer is such a gift. I’m sure we all pray as appropriate for us. Different times of the day. In different ways. It is all fine! We pray together at St Ed’s, and these have become very special times. I would like to invite you to 5.00pm on Mondays, 5.00pm on Wednesday and 7.00pm on Thursdays., to share in these special times together.

Prayers for this week
Almighty God, whose only Son has opened for us a new and living way into your presence: give us pure hearts and steadfast wills to worship you in spirit and in truth; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
Merciful God, your Son came to save us and bore our sins on the cross: may we trust in your mercy and know your love, rejoicing in the righteousness that is ours through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
