Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it is on him that God the Father has set his seal.’ Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6 : 27 & 35Readings this week : Exodus 16 : 2 – 4, 9 - 15; Ephesians 4 : 1 - 16; John 6 : 24 - 35Thought for this weekIn our Gospel reading people are following Jesus after the miracle of His feeding the crowd. They come searching, wanting more, questioning, wondering what happens now.In many ways these days are the same – with so much uncertainty in the world, so many questions and wondering what the future holds, looking to Jesus for leadership, for certainty, for hope. Jesus meets the crowd’s searching with a simple few words. To look to Him, the One sent by the Father, and believe. They are looking for bread. Yet Jesus points them far beyond the present needs, to who He is. Jesus tells them, He is the bread of Life. The one who sustains, strengthens, saves and rescues, gives hope, brings Life. The one in whom all searching, all suffering and all hungers are met.In these days we are called to believe, and not trust in human answers. To listen to Jesus, to follow, to pray and to allow Him to sustain us, lead us, grow us as people of faith and hope for the world.Praise be that we have Jesus. He calls us to trust in Him for each day, and allow His love to sustain us and lead us. What, and who do you need to bring to Him today, the bread of Life? Rev PaulPrayer for this week - Blessing (inspired by Psalm 51)May God create in you a clean heart, a transformed heart, a heart that knows and seeks and loves the justice and mercy of the Lord.May you accept the gift of salvation – not your personal possession to be coveted, but His work, accomplished in the destruction of Sin on the cross of Jesus Christ. And may you humble yourself before the Lord, coming before Him with a broken spirit, a contrite heart receiving from His hand great compassion and unfailing love. posted on Jeff’s Blog.https://blog.wisch.org/category/benedictions-and-prayers/People to pray forFor everyone travelling or away from homeFor those waiting for treatmentFor those working in Aid agencies

One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, ‘There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But what are they among so many people? John 6 : 8 - 9Readings this week : 2 Kings 4 : 42 – end; Ephesians 3 : 14 - end; John 6 : 1 - 21Thought for this weekAs Jesus comes to feed the five thousand he is already surrounded by the huge range of human challenges and needs. People are coming to Him for healing and for hope. They are gathering in great numbers for comfort, to hear His voice, to listen to His teaching, to receive from Jesus hope of rescue, and a glimpse of a better future. How extraordinary that Jesus somehow manages to meet all these needs. He deals with people individually through countless healing miracles. He meets the needs of the crowd by the miracle of the loaves and fish, not only physically feeding so many, but assuring them of the Lord’s Presence with them, gathering them as His people, sharing with them His hope for each of their lives. Later He even walks on water to meet the disciples in their boat. Our lives are full of hurdles, difficulties, needs and seeming impossibilities. Jesus somehow turns all of these into opportunities, into new horizons, into hope. With Jesus all things are possible, and more than this, from needs and challenges Jesus brings hope and new life. What do we need to bring to Him today? How do we need to trust in Him more, in His power and love?Rev PaulPrayer for this weekPrayer of AffirmationThis world would deny you, Lord, and rely on human wisdom in their search for answers to questions they have yet to ask, but we will praise you, and exalt your name, for we know that you are Alpha, the beginning of all things, and Omega, the end, and all that is between. We have known your healing. We have known your provision, We have known your victory. Our sorrow has turned into dancing and our tears to songs of joy. We shall praise you ever more.
