Our next meeting for Messy Church will be on Sunday June 1st at 4pm.Our theme is the Lord's Prayer. It goes alongside the period between Ascension Day and Pentecost where many in the church are engaging with 'Thy Kingdom Come'. The emphasis will be on prayer activities related to the Lord's Prayer with craft, food and art activities related to the Christian images of fish and wind. The concluding worship will be a service of Messy Communion led by the Rev. Jo Hover. We would love to see you and your 'family' there. Any queries? Please contact Jill at messysaints@hotmail.co.uk
Just before Easter, 40 families in Sapcote, Sharnford and the communities of the two primary schools were given hampers through the churches of All Saints, Sapcote Methodists and St Helens. The hope was that these families would be blessed and helped at Easter by these gifts and give them a sense of God's love and care from their community. There was a real sense that this happened as those delivering the hampers received many thanks for the gifts they bore. In conversations that took place with the deliveries the opportunity for prayer was shared too. Many people, when offered, asked for prayers and have received information about the prayingforHope@hotmail.com email address. This will enable them to send in prayer requests at any time, not just at Hope deliveries. Jill Matthews is co-ordinating this prayer follow-up. Di Harrold, one of the co-ordinators, was very grateful to all who helped with this outreach. She was particularly grateful to The Hinckley Area Food bank, the Parish Councils and all the individuals who donated money to make Hope@Easter possible. Also during this same week before Easter, 80 residents around Sapcote and Sharnford very happily received an Easter plant gift. There was also a card made by the school children to go with the plant. Many recipients were very pleasantly surprised by the thoughtfulness of all involved and thanked the churches & schools. Di Harrold also expressed her thanks for all the prayers that surrounded this initiative and was also very grateful to the people delivering who had to battle through strong Holy Week winds!
During Ramadan, which runs from Feb 28th - Mar 29th 2025, there will be weekly meetings of 'A call to prayer Leicester' . This is a group of Christians who pray for the Muslims in their area, community and city (usually on a monthly basis). There will be a mixture 'zoom' meetings and live ones. This invitation is extended to all in the church. If you would like to participate in these please contact Jim Matthews via jmatt1956@aol.com or have a word with him following any meeting at the church who will then pass on your details to the relevant host.
On Monday 2nd June All Saints Church hosted Archdeacon Claire's visitation for our deanery and the neighbouring one of Guthlaxton. On a warm pleasant spring evening with our bells resounding merrily over 110 people were welcomed to the church.Uplifting and rousing music and singing added to the sense of occasion.A talk from Archdeacon Claire, delivered with her customary warmth, spoke encouragingly of the role, value and importance of churchwardens to their churches and incumbents. The formal part of the service was succinct and then all affirmed churchwardens were enthusiastically applauded. Our minister Rev. Jo delivered the intercessions before 'Lord for the years' closed proceedings.Refreshments, including many delicious cakes, and lovely conversations in the church hall rounded off a heart-warming evening.Jill, one the newly re-elected churchwardens in our Benefice thanked everyone involved in the Archdeacon's visitation including musicians, those reading the bible readings, sides-people, flower arrangers, those providing cakes from St Helens and All Saints, those serving refreshments, bell ringers, car park attendants and all those who were involved in preparing the hall and church including setting up and clearing away afterwards. Our thanks also go to Mr Crick, All Saints School and Vic Howell, Sapcote Community Library for allowing us to use their car parks. The Archdeacon's PA Wendy also asked us to pass on her thanks for the warm welcome and said the Archdeacon's Discretionary Fund collection was blessed too.
