Churches Together in Sapcote and Sharnford Charity Fun Run

We were delighted to be able to hold the Churches Together in Sapcote and Sharnford Charity Fun Run again after a gap of three years. This year the run/walk was part of the Sapcote Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration and consequently the start was moved to the playing fields where the rest of the celebration was being held. Sixty entrants gathered together and the run was again started to the sound of Leicester City's, Paul Hing, playing the Post Horn Galop at 10:00 am. Some of the faster runners were able to get to Sharnford and back in an impressive 20 minutes, being cheered on by our marshals and other people along the way - many others enjoyed the walk. The run made £315 for the three charities: Cancer Research UK, Parkinsons UK and Tear Fund. I'd like to thank all of those people who helped or joined in: a group of willing workers who arrived on Saturday at 8:00 am to set up the start banner, gazebo, etc, all of the marshalls including helpers from St Helens at the Sharnford end, the celebration event organisers, Paul Hing with his post horn, and of course all of the runners and walkers. It was a great start to the Sapcote Queen's Jubilee Celebration and great that our churches had a strong presence in the community event.
