During Ramadan, which runs from Feb 28th - Mar 29th 2025, there will be weekly meetings of 'A call to prayer Leicester' . This is a group of Christians who pray for the Muslims in their area, community and city (usually on a monthly basis). There will be a mixture 'zoom' meetings and live ones. This invitation is extended to all in the church. If you would like to participate in these please contact Jim Matthews via jmatt1956@aol.com or have a word with him following any meeting at the church who will then pass on your details to the relevant host.
On Monday 2nd June All Saints Church hosted Archdeacon Claire's visitation for our deanery and the neighbouring one of Guthlaxton. On a warm pleasant spring evening with our bells resounding merrily over 110 people were welcomed to the church.Uplifting and rousing music and singing added to the sense of occasion.A talk from Archdeacon Claire, delivered with her customary warmth, spoke encouragingly of the role, value and importance of churchwardens to their churches and incumbents. The formal part of the service was succinct and then all affirmed churchwardens were enthusiastically applauded. Our minister Rev. Jo delivered the intercessions before 'Lord for the years' closed proceedings.Refreshments, including many delicious cakes, and lovely conversations in the church hall rounded off a heart-warming evening.Jill, one the newly re-elected churchwardens in our Benefice thanked everyone involved in the Archdeacon's visitation including musicians, those reading the bible readings, sides-people, flower arrangers, those providing cakes from St Helens and All Saints, those serving refreshments, bell ringers, car park attendants and all those who were involved in preparing the hall and church including setting up and clearing away afterwards. Our thanks also go to Mr Crick, All Saints School and Vic Howell, Sapcote Community Library for allowing us to use their car parks. The Archdeacon's PA Wendy also asked us to pass on her thanks for the warm welcome and said the Archdeacon's Discretionary Fund collection was blessed too.
Did it rain?We don’t know what the weather was like As Jesus carried his cross to the place of execution. Was the ground dry, so that each footstep cast dust into the air Which choked him as he stooped under the weight and gasped for breath?Or was there a light drizzle, making the wood slippery And harder to hold onto,Forcing splinters into those kind handsAs the heavy timber shifted in his grasp?Perhaps the ground was muddy,Each step a struggle to gain traction,Hampering progress as his feet sank in thick puddles. When Simon of Cyrene stepped in to help bear the loadWas the sun shining?Sunbeams peeping through the clouds To light the way,Or a relentless heat.Did the women weep and wail In a downpour of rain as though heaven wept with them? Was the wind behind himHelping him along but whipping hair into his face?Or perhaps against himPushing him backSo he had to be all the more determined To walk the road to death.Oh, we know about the darkness And the earthquake that came later...But did it rain?
Sapcote Churches Together Flowers@Easter On Wednesday 27th March, 100 brightly coloured Primula plants were delivered around Sapcote and Sharnford by members of the churches from both villages. We have since heard from many different sources just how much these small gifts blessed the recipients, who had all been nominated for many and varied reasons. Thank you so much to the large delivery team who gave up their time so willingly to carry out this very worthwhile task.
