On the first Thursday of every month we hold an informal drop-in session for a cup of coffee (or tea, if you'd prefer) and a friendly welcome. Come and say hello - the kettle's on and the cake's been baked!

The parish has really come together by knitting and making poppies, ready to form a wonderful display for Remembrance Day in November this year. The next stage has been announced! Plumtree Parish Council, invite you to a a community poppy-attaching afternoon at Burnside Memorial Hall at 1.30pm on Saturday, 5th September! Free tea, coffee, tea and cake provided. Everyone is very welcome. If you are still knitting - please keep going!

This annual event will take place on Saturday 13th September 2025, all around the county (and most of England, in fact.) Ride + Stride is a sponsored bike ride or walk between churches raising much needed funds for Nottinghamshire Historic Churches Trust.
There will be a marshal in Church from 10.00 am - 6.00 pm on the day to welcome cyclists and walkers.

Mustard Seed Prayer Group meets monthly on the third Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM to pray for churches, clergy, and leaders across the East Bingham Deanery, rotating locations among local regional churches.

From the Church of England website: A parochial church council (PCC) is the executive committee of a Church of England parish and consists of clergy and churchwardens of the parish, together with representatives of the laity. It has its origins in the vestry committee, which looked after both religious and secular matters in a parish. It is a corporate charitable body.

Legally the council is responsible for the financial affairs of the church parish and the maintenance of its assets, such as churches and church halls. It also assists the clergy in the management of church affairs in the parish, and promoting the mission of the church.

Enjoy your morning coffee amongst friends on Saturday, 26th September, from 10am to 12 mid-day, at St Mary's Plumtree, raising funds for a wonderful cause - Macmillan Cancer Support

Tickets are £15 for adults, £7.50 for under 16s - which includes a Ploughman's Supper.

Once again we will be supporting the Friary Drop-In Homeless Charity in West Bridgford (non-perishable items and toiletries), Framework (monetary donations) and Cotgrave Community Kitchen (fresh produce) - who all do such wonderful work in the diocese.

Non-perishable food and toiletry item suggestions as follows:

· Drinks – water, cans, squash, long-life and powdered milk.

· Crisps, pot noodles, Cup-a-Soups, rice in any form.

· Peanut butter, chocolate spread, jam, marmalade, honey.

· Marmite, jars of pasta sauces, jars of curry cooking sauces.

· Biscuits, crackers, small chocolate bars.

· Small bottles of cooking oil

· Toilet rolls, washing powder, washing up liquid

· Men’s deodorants

There is a wedding taking place at St Mary's Church, Plumtree today.

This is an evening service to remember our loved ones departed from us.
Candles are lit for those who have died in the last 2 years - we remember them with thanksgiving. As we come together to share our grief and our memories, may we draw strength and comfort from each other and find peace and consolation in our community.

Plumtree School's Annual Carol Concerts

Plumtree School - Celebration Assembly & Nativity Play

A candlelit traditional service of lessons and carols. The service consists of the reading of nine lessons, taken from various books of the Bible and covering the main themes of the Nativity story, together with the singing of Christmas carols. Followed by mulled wine and mince pies

Christingle is a joyful celebration that brings families and communities together to share the light of Jesus and spread a message of hope. A relaxed service, ideal for families with babies, toddlers or older children.
Christingle celebrations are named after the Christingles that are lit during the ceremony. Christingles are oranges wrapped in red tape, decorated with dried fruit or sweets, with a candle on the top. Each element of a Christingle has a special meaning and helps to tell the Christian story:
The orange represents the world
The red ribbon (or tape) symbolises the love and blood of Christ
The sweets and dried fruit represent all of God’s creations
The lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness.
