Setting off from Ripon Cathedral on the 12th March, Bradford Cathedral’s Organist and Director of Music Mr Geoffrey Woollatt will trek the entire 42-mile Yorkshire Heritage Way in just 48 hours. The route will take Mr Woollatt up hill and down dale – and the early spring weather might be a challenge too! This won’t deter Mr Woollatt and he will be taking it all in his stride to support the Choir.

Mr Woollatt says: “I am looking forward to my challenge of a trek – but I will be packing blister plasters! Upkeep costs of the Cathedral alone are £2,850 a day, so raising funds for the Choir is vital. The forthcoming summer Choir Tour is an important event in the Choir’s calendar and a wonderful opportunity for our Choristers, so making sure that they are all able to go is very important to us. That’s why I’m putting my boots on and heading out for a 42 mile trek! I do very much enjoy walking but have never done a walk on this scale before – any helpful advice would be much appreciated!”.

Bradford Cathedral Choir has been at the heart of Cathedral life for centuries and will be there for future generations. Choristers flourish under guidance from professional musicians, creating a unique sound loved by all who hear it. However, the upkeep costs of Bradford Cathedral mean the Choir relies on the generosity of donors. Funds raised from this challenge will ensure that Choristers, no matter their background, can get a first- class musical education and participate in the choir's busy calendar of services, trips, and tours.
